Yes, the Mozilla release engineering team recently had a work week in Honolulu.
You can scream “JUNKET” as much as you want, and I will gleefully ignore you. We (and by “we,” I mean Lukas – exceptional job, BTW) actually did the groundwork to make sure that this trip was cost-comparable or better to meeting in a city that had an established Mozilla office, e.g. Toronto or San Francisco. Keep that in mind next time you’re planning a work meeting, but do expect management to require you to show your work.
While in Honolulu, the release engineering team set up shop at a local co-working space, The Box Jelly. The staff there were very supportive and helpful during our stay. I can’t recommend them enough.
Despite the location, the work week was challenging for me for a number of reasons, so I was really glad to have the weekend free after the work week was done to explore Oahu before I had to fly home.

I don’t really do resolutions, but I am resolved to start paying a little more attention to my ongoing house project. Realizing I hadn’t posted anything since the initial demo, I posted a bunch more construction photos from the last few months to flickr .
I’m still not entirely up-to-date, but we’re getting closer.

Inspired by the physical model dropped off today by our architect (and the relentless requests for photographic evidence thereafter), I posted a bunch of pictures today, both of the model and some from Christmas time as well.
On the house front, things are obviously progressing well if we’re at the model stage. Kris has a post up over at her blog about some of the green certification systems we’ve been examining and synthesizing (and by “we,” I of course mean “her”) over the past few months. In redux, we’re much more interested in a house that performs well over the long-term in terms of energy savings and being comfortable rather than one-time, “hooray-for-us” points. As such, we’re heavily invested in making design choices and choosing systems that will last.

Courtesy of most of Planet Mozilla.
1. Take a picture of yourself right now.
2. Don’t change your clothes, don’t fix your hair…just take a picture.
3. Post that picture with NO editing.
4. Post these instructions with your picture.
No mention of eyebrows anywhere in the instructions. Let this be a lesson in precision for you.

As the old adage goes, when life gives you lemons, you go play disc golf.
Kev, Tracy, and I took a little break from the Firefox Summit and squeezed in a “quick” 27 holes before/during dinner last night. Having not played since…last fall?, I had a fantastic round, putting very well and scoring -1 over 27 holes.
Despite the rock slide and other unrelated snafus, the Summit itself is going very well. You can follow along using our stream of consciousness mash-up. If nothing else, it’s fun to witness the varying degrees of aplomb that people are exhibiting in the face of adversity.

I have a distinguished history of being a dick to my co-workers (photos offline, natch), so in that grand tradition, here’s a picture of my current office.
The cottage is working out well so far. Internet access is solid, which facilitates actual work. My favorite part so far: all the fireflies that come out at dusk.

I held out my pinky while taking all these photos, honest.

Perhaps in response to my previous entry, or perhaps in response to my glacial pace of putting new content online, Kristina has started her own flickr account.
