My World of Warcraft account expires tomorrow. I am letting it lapse and retiring from the game.
Not much of a mystery as to why. In the end, it came down to family.

I didn’t mention this in the list of calamities in the previous entry because it didn’t even rank, but last week also saw patch 3.0.8 go live for WoW, cutting the effective DPS of my hunter from 2900 to around 1900.

I’ve updated the Wow Realm Status extension so that it now properly parses both EU servers and RP-PvP servers. Kev offered me scotch. I told you that would work.

3 years later, I’m still playing WoW. With the recent expansion, we’ve seen a return to lengthy queues and frequent server downtimes as issues are patched. As the father of two small children, I don’t get a lot of time to play, so last night I went looking for a tool that would show me the status of my realm at a glance so I would know whether to even bother trying to log in.

Ancient Sun took its first baby steps into SSC on Saturday night. We managed to down Hydross, and cleared through to Lurker (who looks like he’ll be cake for next time) before we ran out of steam. The stat report is here, and yes, that is me at the top.
