I love fantasy football.
Due to the make-up of my fantasy team, I have necessarily tied my hopes to New York, Jacksonville, and Detroit this week in order to have any hope at winning my wildcard matchup.
Sadly, the Giants are playing my favorite team this week, which makes for some truly bipolar football viewing. I don’t give the Giants much of a chance (and by extension, my fantasy team) since they’ve been mailing in their performances for a few weeks now.

Update: OK, were not too far into the 1st quarter now, and NY has already scored a touchdown on defense, and Manning has just thrown a TD to Shockey. I’m as surpised as anyone.

The karma vultures have come home to roost. After posting a 7-and-3 record over the first 10 games of the season, my fantasy football team lost it’s remaining 4 games and backed into the playoffs with a .500 record. My reward for this? I get to play in the fantasy football equivalent of a wildcard game this week against Matt, who coincidentally just spanked me last week.
It’s quite an improvement from last year when I only won 4 games total and finished dead last in our fantasy league. Also, this year marked the beginning of our keeper league, and I had Ricky Williams as one of my keepers going into the off-season.
Still, next year I plan to try paying attention for the whole season instead of just the first three-quarters.

My fantasy football team was holding a thin lead going into Monday Night Football this week. My opponent had two high scoring Broncos left to play, so I thought I was as good as beaten…until Denver forgot to show up.
So, at the midway point of the current fantasy football season, I already have more wins than I managed all last season.
And the karma vultures begin to circle overhead…
